Terminus Wake Park Opens, Owners Hope to Make a Splash with Attractions

Terminus Wake Park, the first occupant of the LakePoint Sporting Community & Town Center complex, opened for business Friday and welcomed its first customers.

The opening comes after months of construction, said co-owner Scott Beville.

“It’s incredible ... It’s probably a year and a half in the making. We’ve had some [help], between our construction teams, the effort that our team on the ground has put forward here, Sesitec — which is the cable and wakepark system operator — they’ve just been phenomenal to help us get to this point and we’re as excited as we can ever be,” he said.

Terminus, located at 130 Old Allatoona Road, Emerson, is a cable-pulled wakepark with three different lakes available for customers. Wakeboarders are pulled across the water by an overhead line, which replaces a boat. Up to five boarders can be on the largest lakes at once. At the moment, only the north lake is open along with a smaller lake called System 2.0, which has a single cable running the lake’s length and back.

Terminus General Manager Chase Andrews said the park will be an attraction for northwest Georgia.

“Atlanta and Georgia [have] been dying for a cable park for forever. We’ve been trying to get them in the last few years and [are] so happy to finally be successful, get it open, let everybody come out and play and really just open up this sport to everybody else. Because it’s kind of a unique sport — hard to get into,” Andrews said.

Although the north lake system can run at lower speeds for beginners, Andrews said the System 2.0 track would be good for beginners, as well as an option for more experienced wakeboarders.

“They use it from beginner all the way to pro. We can put the obstacles [in] and really have some cool events right there. For us it’s a great personalized [experience], like what they’re about to do there,” he said as a Terminus employee opened the smaller system for a customer. “He’s just going to be one person riding, one driver, and you can take your time to learn.

“If you fall, the rope comes back and picks you back up. You don’t have to swim and walk back. It just keeps going. The 2.0 is just for you that time. Great for little parties, a bunch of little kids out there, birthday parties, that kind of stuff because you can go and just have that private lake to yourself and ride for a little bit.”

With the park opening later in the year, management is offering a fall sale of 20 percent off park access and equipment rental. Andrews said wakeboarders are welcome to bring their own equipment, while Terminus also offers a la carte rentals for boards, vests and helmets.

Even with fall nearly here and winter on the way, Beville looks forward to operating as long as the weather holds. Through the fall season, the park will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until dark.

“As long as the weather will last,” Beville said, “each season we’ll run until the weather just kind of dictates that we can’t run any longer.”

The opening itself was under the radar and done as quickly as possible once the park received its certificate of occupation.

“We knew we were close ..., but we basically had been [working] so long and working so hard to try to get everything open we didn’t want to set a date and not have the CO come through and have people disappointed,” said Andrews. “So we just knew it was going to be a last minute push ‘Hey, we’re open,’ instead of giving people a date and it being a few months out.”

With Terminus being the only wake park in this area, Andrews said he and his staff would like to make an impact with area youth by getting them outside and involved in a sport.

“That’s just our big purpose here is just to get to have some impact and positive impact on kids and lives. You know, get them out here running around in circles and working out and having a good time,” he said.
