Aquafil USA Recognized for Cartersville Elementary Support

October 13, 2013

Each year, for the past five years, Aquafil USA has contributed $5,000 to Cartersville Elementary School, making it possible for the school to be a charter member of the National Elementary Honor Society.  Aquafil was recognized for their generosity on Aug. 30 at CES in a ceremony attended by Franco Rossi, General Manager of Aquafil USA; Robert Rebello, Vice President of Operations; Connie Sams, Aquafil USA Human Resources; Howard Hinesley, Cartersville Superintendent; Ken MacKenzie, CES Principal; Eppie Snider, CES Assistant Principal; Marty Knight and Elaine Hite, CES Counselors; NEHS CES Directors AJ Wilson and Natalie Carr; and 30 NEHS students from CES.

CES students involved in NEHS must maintain all A's, have exceeding CRCT scores, show a high sense of responsibility and possess leadership and service skills.  These students have a service commitment within CES, such as mentoring a younger student, assisting with the BackPack Buddy program, or serving as a library page.  NEHS students also participate in two community service projects, assist a family at Christmas, and perform random acts of kindness which are photographed and posted in the halls of CES.

Aquafil's support provides CES an opportunity to mold the leaders of the future and aid the community through the volunteer efforts of the students.

In addition to the financial support received from Aquafil USA, the company encourages its employees to mentor a student for one hour per week.

Aquafil USA produces BCF yarns, polymers and plastics in its 312,000 square-foot facility at One Aquafil Drive in Cartersville.
