Major aluminum systems supplier to establish southeastern U.S. presence in Georgia
Gov. Nathan Deal today announced that Constellium, a global leader and manufacturer of aluminum products and solutions for a broad scope of markets—including the automotive industry, will establish a facility in Bartow County. This project represents the creation of 150 new jobs and an overall investment of $32 million in the local community.
“Georgia has a long-standing reputation for attracting leading manufacturers in the automotive industry,” said Deal. “In the last year, we have seen particularly strong growth in this sector with announcements from a variety of heavy-hitting suppliers. Constellium’s decision to locate here will put the company in a position to access this broad network and retain its competitive edge.”
Constellium creates lightweight vehicle solutions aiming to reduce vehicle mass while advancing safety, comfort and performance. The company’s solution portfolio includes advanced crash management systems, other safety components such as side impact beams, front-end structures, lower path energy absorption systems and additional automotive structures.
“Georgia has a strong business climate and an advanced technical education network to provide a skilled workforce for our operations,” said Eric Krepps, Vice President and General Manager of Constellium Automotive Structures North America. “We are grateful for the warm welcome we have received from the State of Georgia, Bartow County and a number of partners to help achieve our business goals .”
Constellium operates more than 20 manufacturing sites in North America, Europe and Asia. The company’s world-class technology center located in Voreppe, France, is the origin of its advanced aluminum solutions.
This project represents a $20 million investment by Constellium and an additional $12 million investment by developer Seefried Properties, for a total project value of $32 million.
Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) senior project manager E. Jane Caraway is Georgia’s representative for the project and has worked closely with the Bartow-Cartersville Joint Development Authority, City of Cartersville Electric System, Georgia Power Company and local leadership.
“I want to welcome Constellium to Bartow County and our family of corporate citizens,” said Bartow County Commissioner Steve Taylor. “The automotive sector, which is strategically important here, seems to do well in Bartow County in the midst of so many southeast original equipment manufacturers. We are fortunate to have a company of this caliber investing in our community and in Highland 75 Corporate/Industrial Park.”
“We are excited Constellium chose Georgia to establish a presence in the Southeast,” said GDEcD Commissioner Chris Carr. “We offer an abundant workforce, well-connected logistics infrastructure and an overall business-friendly environment, which we believe is a formula for success. We look forward to working with them to grow their business in the future.”
