The following is a breakdown of locally assessed taxes:

PROPERTY TAXES

2020  Effective Property Taxes

Real and personal property in Bartow County is assessed on 40 percent (40%) assessed value.  The assessed value is then multiplied by the total mill rate for the jurisdiction to calculate the tax bill.

 

Step 1:  Sample Tax Calculation:  $1,000 Assessed Value x 40% = $400
Step 2: Using unincorporated Bartow:  $400 x 0.027470 = $10.99
  • Bartow County Unincorporated, 0.027470 mills = $10.99
  • City of Cartersville, 0.028216 mills = $11.29
  • City of Adairsville, 0.031259 mills = $12.50
  • City of Emerson, 0.030442 mills = $12.18
  • City of Euharlee, 0.030262 mills = $12.10
  • Cities of Kingston, Taylorsville, & White, 0.028610 mills = $11.44

SALES TAX

Bartow County's sales tax rate is 7%:
  • 4% State
  • 1% Local E-SPLOST (Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax)
  • 1% Local SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax)
  • 1% Local LOST (Local Option Sales Tax)

Sales tax is not applicable to water or sewer services.

The State's 4% sales tax on energy used in the manufacturing process has been eliminated, made possible by Georgia HB386.

 

Hotel / Motel Tax

Overnight visitors to Bartow County will pay sales tax, and Hotel/Motel Tax.
