Vulcan Materials’ Bartow County Quarries Generate $5 Million in Capital Investment

April 10, 2013

Vulcan Materials generates $5 million in capital investments from its Bartow County operations alone, it's been reported.

That's because Vulcan Materials' two Bartow County quarries sit on the majority of the county's crushed stone resources, where the company extracts both granite and limestone from one of the most geologically rich areas in the world.

Vulcan's Bartow Quarry, one of two quarries the company operates in the county, is located on Georgia Highway 20.  This quarry serves as the site of 1.2 billion-year-old rock formation Corbin Gneiss, a cooled volcanic dome that lies below ground.  Vulcan shipped its first product from the quarry in 1994, after four years of permitting.

Vulcan's other Bartow County quarry, Adairsville Quarry, is located on Mitchell Road off Interstate 75.

Vulcan extracts about 1 million tons of stone from the two quarries combined annually, employs about 35 people in the county and brings in about $5 million in capital investment between the two sites.
