Art Tipton, president and CEO of Southern Research Institute (SRI), got a firsthand look at the state-of-the-art Water Research Center (WRC) located at Plant Bowen.
The WRC opened last year in partnership with Georgia Power, SRI and the Electric Power Research Institute. Its purpose is to explore research water-dependent technologies associated with power generation. The center is dedicated to finding new ways to reduce water consumption and increase efficiency across the energy industry. The outcome of this pioneering research will be analyzed to determine what works and what doesn't work to conserve water in very specific ways when generating electricity.
