2018 Annual Report

February 19, 2019

Cartersville, GA, February 19, 2019

The Cartersville-Bartow County Department of Economic Development shared their 2018 annual report of economic progress to their Board, the Bartow-Cartersville Joint Development Authority and other community stakeholders.  Several growth opportunities were celebrated including expansions at Faltec, Vista Metals and Toyo Tire North America; new facilities including Loloi, Georgia Museums’ Savoy Automobile Museum, Old Dominion Freight, and FPS (Food Processing Solutions) Corp; and new investment with Ashley Capital’s 766,080 sq.ft. Spec Building named Georgia North Logistics Center.  Collectively, these 2018 projects represent new investment in Bartow’s economy of $282.7 million, and more importantly 613 new jobs over the next several years.

Proactive industrial and mixed-use developments continue to have positive results for Bartow’s economy.  Examples were shared including Panattoni’s prepared 60-acre site making the Loloi project possible, and Highwoods Properties’ prepared park River Pointe was equally important for the Old Dominion project.  Ashley Capital’s Spec building under construction now, is the first of several potential facilities for future employers on their land in Georgia North Industrial Park.  Investments from Pattillo Industrial Real Estate in Cartersville Business Park and the community’s investment in the GRAD-Certified Highland 75, continue to benefit Bartow’s economy.  The community is also looking forward to future developments such as Pope & Land’s Vineyard Park, Interstate Commerce Park, and others that may be announced soon.

Appreciation was also shown for notable developments throughout the community in the medical sector, commercial development, housing market and growth from both Georgia Highlands College and Chattahoochee Technical Colleges at their Bartow campuses.

Executive Director Melinda Lemmon shared about notable events of the year, “It was a pleasure to have guests from Leadership Georgia, from the ECG Bus Tour and other groups learn more about our community.  It was also meaningful to have delegates visit Japan to thank Bartow’s seven Japanese companies for their investments in Bartow.  The group also supported the Georgia delegation at the SEUS-Japan Conference in Tokyo.”

Partners were thanked for their vital roles in community development, economic development and workforce development, and for working on those goals collaboratively.
